Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is not a problem of willpower or personality—it is a disorder of doubt. OCD creates persistent, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that feel highly threatening and demand certainty, reassurance, or repeated mental or behavioural responses to reduce distress. Over time, these patterns can shrink daily life and increase anxiety rather than relieve it.
Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I-CBT) is a specialized, evidence-based approach developed specifically for OCD. Rather than focusing on exposure alone, I-CBT targets the reasoning process that fuels obsessional doubt. Treatment helps clients learn to distinguish between realistic concerns and OCD-driven “what if” thinking, recognize how imagination overtakes evidence, and disengage from compulsive responses.
Therapy is collaborative, structured, and paced to support long-term change. Clients learn to trust their direct experience, reduce mental checking and reassurance-seeking, and respond differently to uncertainty. The goal is not to eliminate intrusive thoughts, but to weaken OCD’s influence and restore confidence, flexibility, and meaningful engagement in daily life.
